A Whole Week Gone

It does not seem possible but another Sunday has arrived. Sue and I spent yesterday helping Carrie move into her new place. She had lots of help so it went very smoothly and fairly quick. The use of the U-haul proved a smart move. We drove further to pick it up then we did moving, including the four trips. Total miles used were 7. She will tell you about the new place in her own words but I will tell you of her backyard. It can best be discribed as urban redneck. They have about 15 chickens running lose during the day and I think most of them are roosters. At least they sound like roosters. If Carries happens to mention a new dislike for chicken it may stem from these guys.
Now today, I am watching Phil battle Tiger but I still have to unload the E plus the rest of the chores. Oh well I can rejoice in the knowledge that today is my day of rest

Sundays!

Now I will admit to enjoying Sundays. Church (most Sundays)and then a fairly lazy day. Hobbies, walks, naps, pretty much anything you want. And through it all, an occasional cup of coffee. Okay lots of coffee.
Well this moring we are sitting here enjoying a limited release Black Apron coffee compliments of our daughter, the Bean Counter. We save the special coffee on the weekend when we can enjoy it better. This one tastes sooo good! Now if I only had a cinnabon to eat with it!
All this and golf later on the TV.(can you say nap time)I love Sundays!

What can I say!

Of course you recognize Colten from his earlier posted pictures. But that sure is a nice looking redhead holding him!

Tuesday Night

Pastor Mike Andre from Bible Fellowship was our Tuesday evening speaker and he delighted the students with his honest and straight forward manner. The focus of his message centered around our membership in the Army of God and what that actually meant. As Mike put it, "We are in a battle and we need to do our part".

Our "part" will involve being a true witness. One that reflects Jesus to a hurting world, not out of arrogance but out of compassion.

Greatest Blonde Joke ever!

My son posted the greatest Blonde joke ever!
Here!

Good Friday has come.

No, not The Good Friday, just good Friday. As long as my work week ends on Friday, it makes it a good Friday. Our first week of school has come and gone. The students are sorting out their class loads and looking over the homework requirements. The teachers are looking forward to allowing our voices to rest over the weekend. Vancouver is approaching a wet weather record with the most days in a row with measurable precipitation (rain) and that means an indoor restful weekend for me.

Rumor has us going south tonight for a fulfilled evening of shopping for clothes and to make it worse, I am the unlucky victim. It seems my children have volunteered to help Dad pick out some more upbeat apparel. Not that I mind my late 80's style, but they feel an update is needed. Good luck! You can lead a horse to water, or so the old saying goes, but you can't make him open his wallet and pay for stuff. I will let you know how it goes.

Late update; not able to go! Bummer

And Better

Well sort of. After life support was removed, my faithful laptop “Dell”bert has passed. He served me well and will be remembered for his warmth and the pleasant contact he opened up to the world through his wireless modem. He did leave a “parts donor card” filled out properly in his case and upon his passing, his useful parts have been removed and will be used to bless others. His memory, still strong and robust has already been installed into his former housemates frame. She is of course “Dell”berta, Sue’s faithful study tool. The Hard drive also has found its way into a portable case and will live on contected to various units providing entertainment with the hundreds of hours of music that it contained.
The post mortem was preformed and it has been determined that “Dell”bert succumbed to a motherboard infarction. These infarctions are often fatal and indeed proved to be so. “Dell”bert will be replaced with a newer sleeker model of yet to be determined lineage. A fruit line would be nice but the lack of lettuce may make this unlikely.

I will keep you posted.

Getting Better!

Okay, if the title does not make any sense read the last post. The year is indeed getting better already. The new students have arrived, at least the on campus ones and as always it is exciting to welcome them into the expanding family of CFNBC. The actual new semester starts on Monday with the returning students coming to confirm their courses and then the new students repeat the process on Tuesday. I just realized that I am not sure if the opening rally is on Tuesday evening or if it is on Wednesday. I will have to double check and repost the invitation later.

We also found out this week that our oldest boy and his wife are moving back to the West Coast!!!!! Can you say excited!!! Oh wow, there were tears and yippie's all over our house after the phone call. The timing is not confirmed yet but it has been published on his blog so the word is out.

Not off to a good start!

I am experiencing a computer withdrawal of sorts. My old stand bye, the Dell laptop, has chosen 2006 to begin a work stoppage. My son had problems with his Dell over several years but the rest of us, in the family, have had steady service from ours. A cooling fan seems to be the culprit but I am still waiting on a tech to confirm and fix. So in the mean time I wonder from office to office looking for a desktop to work at. Fortunately since we are networked my teaching notes for the upcoming semester are all on the server. Rest assured dear students that the classes are all safe. Your assignments and homework will begin on time.

It is the dawning of a fresh start.

The world looks at the turning of the calendar as the opportunity to start over in life. Sort of a rebirth. Make “resolutions” to do some things different in the New Year and life will some how be better. I am glad that (if necessary) I can begin over by simply praying to God, in the name of Jesus, asking for forgiveness and turning from the past ways. I mean I don’t have to wait for the turn of a calendar, setting of the sun, or special feast day. It is something I can refresh everyday and I do. In the words of Ted my pastor, “keep a shortlist” with God. Make everyday a new day in which the mistakes and shortcomings of the previous one are owned up to and dealt with.

Don’t make “resolutions” but choose to make right choices all year. Read the Bible everyday. If you don’t have a reading plan I would like to suggest this simple one found at New Hope Chapel. It will take you through the New Testament twice and the Old Testament once during the year. The link is http://www.enewhope.org/bible/

Pray for others, listen to God in quiet reflection (I need to work on this one) and look for ways to be proactive with your faith.

Have a Blessed year in Christ.
